This post was sponsored by JOANN – My favorite craft store to visit for all my yarn and tools that I use. Also, you can’t resist all their coupons!
At the time I am writing this, Valentines Day is coming up! There’s so many different ways to show love – this project reflects a love gesture we should all be practicing. Here are my Honest Hand Soaps with the help of JOANN!
These dolls act as a great reminder to wash our hands. It’s a small act, but it can have a big impact. When we wash our hands, we are demonstrating love in a tangible way that can help to create a safer space. It’s a gesture of kindness that can go a long way in reducing the spread of illness and disease, especially while we have so many viruses rampant right now. And it never hurts to add some décor to your bathroom.
If I saw these dolls when I came visited another bathroom, I would be so excited! I can’t be the only one who can imagine how cute it would be. These are a great piece for any home and would be a great gift! Something that you will never be able to look away from.
Why the color scheme?
I always love the freedom I get from crafting with JOANN and I am really enjoying this “seasonal ambiguity” when it comes to projects. I am creating this pattern with the month of love in my sight. This may look pretty obvious when you look at the color scheme! Although great for all year, I wanted this to have a valentines theme.
Any loved one would be honored to have a crochet project from you! Its a sense of love in so many ways – gift giving, being respectful of germs, and Valentines! This is a great reminder overall that we can love in different ways.
JOANN has all the yarn that you need to gets started – this pattern is fairly easy and very cheap to create! You can make quite a few out of just one skein. In the pattern, you will be able to find everything that you’ll need.
You can find the full free pattern down below!
What’s your favorite soap aroma?
Being intentional to the hand soap you’re using is such a game changer! Knowing that you’re going to have nice smelling hands is such an incentive and makes the process fun and necessary. You can choose any aroma for this project but I went with Blueberry and Sakura! I would love to see what you come up with.
JOANN actually has a ton of candles and soaps at their stores – as long as a scent has “sandalwood” in the aroma flavor, I am going for it.
I intended for these to be hand soaps but I can also see how they may work as a shower gel! I love being able to see projects in motet than just one way and I believe that is part of the message JOANN wants to spread. I appreciate them helping me out with this fun project!
So where can you find what you need?
You can find every single thing I used for this project from JOANN stores and you will see all of that hyperlinked for you. JOANN is my favorite place to go for materials and the yarn I love the most for amigurumi can be exclusively found there as well. When purchasing, I earn a little bit of the commission, so thank you for supporting me as a blogger!

Ch 8
Row 1: Sc in 2nd chain from hook. Sc across (6) If you must chain 7 to get to 6 stitches, you can do that as well!
Rnd 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc across (6)
Ch 1. Single crochet into the same stitch but on the edge of your square:
Single crochet along the edge
Into the corner stitch, sc x 3 into the same stitch. Your work will begin to turn so you can start working on the next side / edge.
Single crochet all the way down until the next corner stitch. Sc x 3 into the corner stitch. Single crochet next edge and single crochet x 3 into the corner stitch. Turning your work, single crochet on the last edge all the way until the final stitch. Finish off and pull through: (photo shown below is showing the wrong amount of rows from a porotype, sorry! Your panel will still look just like this but not as tall. Thanks for your patience!)
Attaching the Lid
With the tail of your lid, you will be using this to sew onto the top. Insert through first stitch.
Pull through. Wrap the yarn over and insert your needle through the front once again. You will be using the whip stitch technique.
About halfway through, be sure you’re doing your last minute stuffing of your project!
Finish off
Attaching the pump: Step 1
With your hook, insert through the top stitch of the lid. This can be in any position, however, I like that mine is off to the side of my bottle! When deciding on the placement, you can keep in mind that the pump will be 5 stitches wide.
Pull the yarn through and chain 1.
Row 1: Single crochet into the same stitch. Sc into the next 2 stitches across (3)
Row 2: At the end of the 3rd single crochet, ch 1 and turn your work. Sc into the first stitch and sc into the next 2. (3 stitches in total)
Rnd 3-9: Ch 1, turn. Sc across (3)
Finish off.
Step 2:
Into the stitch that is on the right side next to the already-made pump, pull yarn through and attach once again.
Single crochet into the first stitch of the pump itself.
Begin single crocheting along the edge.
Once you reach the corner stitch, sc x3 into the corner stitch. Your work will begin to turn like we had done before. Sc across and sc x 3 into the next corner stitch.
Once you reach the bottom, slip stitch into the next on the lid. Pull through and finish off.
Sew on the Label:
With your darning needle, sew on the label above the eyes and in the middle of the bottle. One good reference I did with mine is had the bottom of the label on the 4th round above the eyes!
Adding on the trees
This is how I did it with my project, but you totally have creative liberty to adjust the details however you see fit!
With the first flower (large) sew on the top right corner of the label. I like to have my hovering about the label and bottle equally.
With a (small) flower, place underneath the large flower. Using the tail sew into place.
With the last (small) flower, sew on the top left.
With all three flowers attached, it’s time to emborder the tree to give it the final detail.
Pull yarn through the lower end of the label, 5 stitches from the right corner.
Pull the needle with the yarn attached up to the middle flower in the center stitch beneath. Pull the needle through the left flower while pulling the yarn snug.
The brown yarn will meet in the center of the stem from both small flowers.
And for the final step, embroider on your face! Don’t forget the eyelashes, blush, and smile!
Creating a Flat Bottom
Flattening the bottom of our bottle will make it easier for it to sit without tipping over! Attach a strand of yarn (in color A) and pulled the darning needle through the bottom.
After your yarn has been pulled through, skip over two stitches the side and insert your darning needle through. You will be pulling out from the back of your doll.
Continue pulling slowly but tightly.
Pull tightly until you’ve created a divot on the bottom of the body! This will even it out and make it flat on the bottom so you can sit it alongside tables and counters.
You’re All Done!
Big congratulations to you and a big thank you for following the pattern! It means a ton and I appreciate JOANN sponsoring this project. Another fun pattern to be found in #handmadewithjoann.

Nice tip on flattening the bottom of the Honest Hand Soap, so that they will stand easily. Thank you, Vincent, for creating these patterns. They’re so cute. I really like all of your patterns. You have a real talent!
