If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’ve seen the amount of different places I bring my crochet! I personally believe crochet is meant to be taken much farther than just inside the home and because of all the different types of terrain and environments, I think it’s only made me love it even more. There lots of reasons to try new places – it can be fun to have new eyes on you, you can enjoy different places without needing to be on your phone, and it’s overall a really great way to be present!
Down below, I am showing you some of my absolute favorite places that I’ve gone and crocheted! Not all of these places may be “practical”, but they are fun and great some photos! The photographers who have helped me get these fun shots can be linked below – check them out and if you’re in the Portland area, hit them up!

Coffee Shops
It’s a classic but a favorite for sure – coffee shops! These are the best. It can be easy to be distracted by the things at home such as tv, snacking, and everything that is readily available. But at a coffee shop, you can out your music in and just zone out. People watching is always a blast and as crochet trees and knitters, people are always so astounded by what we do, so if you’re looking to make conversation, this option is a great one to follow through with!
In the Sunshine
Its a seasonal one for sure, but being able to get some sunshine (that wonderful vitamin D) is a wonderful feeling and when you can find that perfect spot of shade, it can be truly blissful to enjoy. It’s a bit harder in the winter since it is so cold, but getting outside with your yarn is definitely for everybody (just don’t forget your allergy meds!)
With the Flowers
Okay maybe not directly in the plants like I am here, but it is really nice to find a place where you can smell the roses! There’s lots of rose gardens over here’s in Oregon and if you can find a place to enjoy the plantation, it sure is a treat!
At the Arcade
People tend to go to the arcade to play some retro video games, but is that it? There is something comforting about an arcade (maybe because I’m a gamer at heart) but I love the sounds that are being made by all the machines going off at once. A prominent ones are the loading screens of all the games and the playing of them! But, the lighting is always so unique. As you can see, this arcade I was in was pink. It’s an interesting place to be, usually with a slice of pizza, and makes for an unconventional photo shoot.
In the Rain
Actually being in the rain isn’t the best, but it can look pretty cool if you ask me! While it may not be the best idea to crochet directly in the rain, it sure is the best to crochet while it is raining outside. Wrapped up in a warm home while the rain comes down and listening to the sound of rain is truly something to cherish. With a cup of warm tea? Phenomenal.
Out in by a Waterfall
We are truly blessed to be living on an earth where such breathtaking natural occurrences. Especially here in Oregon, where many are within driving distance. I highly suggest to go chasing after some waterfalls with yarn in your bag – being out in nature like this will give you an appreciation for our home.
At the Beach
Nothing like laying back, soaking up the sun with sand between your toes and getting a few rows in! Although the Oregon Coast isn’t the warmest place out there, it’s still a nice change of atmosphere. Being able to listen to the ocean will only make crochet more meditative for you.
In the Snow
For most, snow days mean that work and school are cancelled! The perfect time for bundling up inside with a loved one, cookies, a fire, and your yarn in your hands! It’s fun to be outside in the cold to crochet, yes, but those fingers can get cold pretty fast. I love the snow though so it won’t be stopping me!
In the City
I love the city. It’s so full of life and energy that it’s so hard to NOT be inspired by your surroundings. There’s people everywhere, amazing architecture, and the hustle and bustle all around you. The city makes you feel small and I think that’s a really humbling feeling. This is a great place to get your craft on wherever you may be in the city!
And there you have it, these are some of my favorite places to crochet! There are still so many more places that I can try out which is exciting. I am really looking forward to taking this craft elsewhere – where are YOUR favorite places to crochet or knit? Let me know down below and be sure to follow me on Instagram to see all the other places I find!

I learned to crochet when I was about 5. My parents had a boat and loved to fish. While they fished, I entertained myself by crocheting. Now I like to crochet on the porch or in the car. I can usually get a little done while waiting in restaurants and doctor’s offices.

I have two friends who crochet at the movies. They get a lot of looks, but they love it. And they get uninterrupted hours of hook time.

I love to crochet while I am travelling. In the car (when somebody else is driving) and especially at the airports and during the flights on airplanes.

I love to crochet in the food court at the different malls in the area and while waiting for the doctor appointment. I crochet while my husband drives and while visiting family and friends.
