It’s the few lucky people whos hands never get cold – however, for the majority of us, our fingers are the first things to freeze off (unless you have a larger nose like I do) There are a lot of different options when it comes to keeping our precious hands warm, so here is my newest pattern for all of you looking for some peace – a hand muff!
I don’t exactly love the name of these things, but they are a really cute accessory and what I love most about them is the lack of commitment that gloves give you. You can slip your hands in and out of it easily and if you only need one hand to warm up, you can always invite company to share in your warm space! Holding hands and staying warm is easy with this lovely project.
To create this beginner friendly muff, I used Lion Brand Yarn’s Go For Faux yarn which I was able to order off of JOANN. They have two kinds of go for faux and this is NOT the thick and quick version.
*I did have a few problems with the shedding but I had their samples on hand – you should be able to avoid shedding of the yarn with the most recent skeins that are available!

Skill Level: Easy
Materials:
1 Skein of Lion Brand Yarn Basic Stitch in White (Any worsted weight yarn will do though!)
2 Skeins of Lion Brand Yarn Go For Faux (in Grey Wolf)
Gauge:
Not needed for this project
Abbreviations:
Ch – chain
Sl st – Slip Stitch
Sc – Single crochet
Hdc – Half Double Crochet
Sl st – Slip stitch
FO -Finish Off
Notes:
- When working in the main body of the muff, you will be joining the round.
- The pattern is how achieved this muff with my measurements. You are welcome to change it varying on your wrist size and how long you want it – fortunately with the nature of this yarn, you cant see the stitches so the count isn’t all too important!

Let’s Begin!
Start with your 5mm hook
Beginning with the wrist (You will also be making a second one)
ch 11
In second chain from hook, hdc. Hdc across. (10)
Row 2 – 24: hdc across (10)
With your flat square, you will now seam it up using the slip stitch!
with your 6.5mm hook, pull up go for faux and hdc, hdc inc around
Hdc into the first stitch, *Hdc inc into the next. Hdc into the next, Repeat from * all the way around (36)
After your finish this row, switch to your 10mm hook.
Rnd 2 – 23: Ch 1. Hdc into first stitch and hdc around. Sl st to join
Rnd 24 : Ch 1. *Hdc, Dec* around (24)
We will now be sewing up the other wrist on!
And there you have it! The easiest chunky scarf ever! I hope it keeps you warm and gives you something to wear while you work on all your other projects!
