The growing phase is cute, too!
I remember growing my first little saplings as a kid and it was so fun! My first memories of what life looks like? Pretty cool. I have been building a garden collection out of my crochet and I didn’t want to miss any special moments that come along with the growth of our vegetation!
I want to give you a little insight of why this little sapling looks the way it does! The soil and the stem / leaves are explanatory and I used normal real world colors for it. As you can see (and will have access to!) is the pink bow – That color choice and wrap around is reminiscent of earth worms!
For the final touch is the white smiles and lashes! Typically, my dolls has a black accent but this time it represents the roots! As well as making it more visible!
I hope you enjoy the free pattern that is down below and it makes a great project that can be in your home – a plant that you can’t kill is always a plus! Will be coming out with more patterns of what this sapling can turn into, so be sure to keep your eyes out for that!

Assembly:
Creating our body
With the bottom piece that we created above, will be taking that and sewing onto the main body! You will be using your darning needle sew into the Back Loops that we had left before like so:
The more you continue and your piece shuts to down, be sure to stuff firmly!
Sewing on your stem:
With the tail of your stem, you will be sewing onto the very top of the head like so:
Now that it is standing up, it’s time to sew on both of your leaves! You may replicate the positioning of mine or attach however you like!
Flattening the bottom of your piece:
The bottom of out work may be a little too round now, so we will do our best to flatten it! With a new strand of yarn, attach to the bottom of your piece.
Once connected, pull your yarn all the way up to the top of your Stem
Now that it’s pulled through, pull tightly! When doing so, the bottom of you work will indent like you see below. You can do this a few more times if you would like, but once you’re happy with it, be sure to know above to keep it secure.
And the last step is to embroider your smile, eyes, and lashes! I chose to go with white to make it look like roots but if you would like to do black, that’s an option too!
