October is here and this is a very important and touching month for many – many people are diagnosed with the deadly disease of breast cancer and this is the month to bring awareness to the issue and help fund research to try to eliminate it. With Breast Cancer Awareness Month finally here, JOANN is stepping up to the plate this year! With their finger knitting yarns (coming from a number of different companies) JOANN will donate a portion of the sale for each product sold which will be going into the breast cancer research. You can find all all the colors needed to get started at JOANN!
So what can you make out of this yarn?
Well, lots of things! But I’m here to show you MY idea of what to make for this cause! What’s the best way to bring attention to something? By making it huge and in your face of course – which is why I decided to make a giant blanket scarf out of this loopy yarn! It is so warm and guaranteed to draw eyes towards you, which is a perfect icebreaker to talk about why you are wearing this big pink scarf. JOANN has different color option’s so feel free to go at this project with a different color coordination or solid color if ombre isn’t your thing.
This project is super fun and easy – perfect for watching your favorite shows while knowing you are doing it for a noble cause!
So which yarns count for this promotion?
All pinks of course! Here they all are, being offered from Lion Brand Yarn and JOANN Big Twist (click the photo to be directed to it!)
All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of Vincent Green-Hite, designer of Knot Bad. This post was sponsored by JOANN Stores but all ideas and opinions are my own.
What You’ll Need:
4 Skeins of any Color seen above
Scissors
Gauge:
Not needed for this project
Let’s Begin!
Using your loopy yarn, lay down 24 loops. Entering for your first row, loop all the way across. (you can use any amount you desire, but 24 is how to achieve the one I made!)
To find the photo tutorial if you haven’t used this yarn before, head HERE!
Row 2 – 111 : Continue working a normal row until you reach the amount of rows or your desired length! (23)
Row 112 : Time for your finishing row!
If you don’t know how to finish the last row, head HERE for the tutorial!
And there you have it, your giant blanket scarf! I hope you had a great time while making this and thank YOU for contributing to this cause – you are helping the world as the experts tackle breast cancer and try to come up with a cure. It is important to be aware of this problem and to also know the signs of breast cancer ( which can also be found in men!) To learn more, head HERE
