I’M AN AUTHOR!
I never thought I would ever have the title “author” but it’s official – I’ve written my first ever book! So exciting and I’m looking forward to seeing it on shelves and to see it online. I’ve been crocheting for 6 years and although I’ve dabbled with crochet wearables (scarves, sweaters, etc) and home décor, my heart still continues to be drawn to Amigurumi. It was what convinced me to start the craft and it is convincing me to stay!
With Amigurumi, my goal as a designer has always been to walk that thin line of making a project simple enough a beginner could do it but complex enough it can wow anyone that you show. I try to make crochet patterns accessible as those are the kind of patterns that I followed to get my foot in door as a designer! There’s a science to cuteness and I have always found comfort in aiming for a kawaii (cute) metal aesthetic within my work.
Although I have patterns all over the place on the internet, I think it was about time to have a solid collection underneath me. I had the pleasure of working with The Quarto Group to publish my first book and it has been quite the process to put together a whole book. I definitely underestimated it all but it’s a satisfying feeling seeing it all come together! Down below are some easy answers to some question you may have about this book – If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask in the comments below or message me on Instagram at @knot.bad

How difficult are the patterns?
They are all beginner friendly! Although some of the patterns use some special techniques, the majority of these projects use the most basic stitches that a beginner can learn. If you need a refresher on stiches or techniques, there is a full section at the beginning that you can always reference back on. There will be photo tutorials for each pattern.
What’s the theme?
I decided not to focus the entirety of the book on just one common theme – I am breaking it up into different categories! I wanted to create a book that had a little something for everyone rather than just one common theme. One of my favorite parts about amigurumi is that it’s a craft that is good for ALL year round, which is so great.
The 5 different categories that are found within this book are:
- Seasonal Themed
- Beach Theme
- Forest Themed
- Space Themed
- Food and Drink Themed
What Exactly Comes in the Book?
At its core, this is a beginner friendly crochet pattern book. In it, there will be 25 patterns that someone who is just starting could get the hang of. I sprinkle in a little bit about myself and what Yarn Punk is along with an in depth crochet stitch photo tutorial that you can continue to reference back on!
Will I be able to find these patterns anywhere else?
Nope! This is the only place you will be able to find all of the patterns in the book.
Can I gift or sell the patterns I make from the book?
Yes absolutely! You can do whatever you wish with the finished object, you’re not allowed to resell or copy the pattern for your own gain. I encourage you to gift these to loved ones and if selling, all I ask is you credit me as the original designer.
Who would enjoy this book the most?
I think truly anyone who wants to practice their amigurumi is the target audience! I don’t believe that amigurumi needs to look as hard as it looks and with these patterns, you will feel like you can tackle any of the projects with ease. I have tried my best to make sure these are all as straightforward as possible.
Thank you so much for you interest and reading through this blog post – I appreciate your support in any way that you show it. I hope some more people will want to try out amigurumi and I hope I can be apart of your plushie making.
You can find the pre-order for this book through all of these retailers listed down below. The book will be released on November 8, 2022.
