What Does a Smile Mean to You?
Your smile leaves a lasting impact on people and I think many of us know the importance of a nice smile.
Unfortunately for me, I just haven’t been happy with my smile for so long. I had the privilege of having braces when I was a kid and what it did for my teeth was night and day – my teeth were very crooked and in front of one another and I thank my parents for helping me out!
I was an irresponsible young man though and may have not worn my retainers as much as I should have.. my teeth began to move and during my adult life, I see the glaring flaws of it now. I just want to be confident when the camera is in front of me!
Straight Up Smiles is Here to Help!
As much as I have wanted to fix my smile, I just haven’t taken the first step. I was fortunately connected with the lovely staff over at Straight Up Smiles over in the Vancouver, Washington area and they wanted to help me! Dr. Vo, the orthodontist who started his own practice, has been nothing but warm and welcoming to me and showing me how this entire process works.
There are a number of options when trying to fix your teeth – many of us know about braces and alignment retainers. I am going with the ladder – There are options on the market BUT Dr. Vo is able to create their own alignment in-house which means it’s cheaper for the customer and it’s done much quicker.
I was able to get started one week after my imaging – on average, most services will take around a month. That’s pretty impressive if you ask me!
(Dr. Vo showing me how everything works!)
Keep Up with My Entire Process!
It feels very weird to me to be using an aligner that has brace-esque properties on my teeth as I really thought I would be past this. I had some type of stigma about fixing my teeth as an adult but I am happy to be doing it. I want to share my experience with this entire process and I will be posting all about it over the next few months on my Instagram and Tik Tok!
You will also see me appear on Straight Up Smile’s feed, too. So be sure you click all the hyperlinks to find their socials! Especially if you’re in the area, they offer great giveaways and even promos for your teeth as well.
Let me know down below, how was your process when you went to straighten your teeth? Down below, you can find the free pattern to my crochet tooth amigurumi and get started ASAP!

Let’s Begin!
Create two “Points”
Begin in White
Rnd 1: 6 Single crochet into the Magic Ring (6) (Click here for video tutorial!)
Rnd 2: Sc around (6)
Rnd 3: *Inc* around (12)
Be sure to flip your work!
Rnd 4: Sc around (12)
Rnd 5: *Sc 1, Inc* around (18)
Rnd 6 – 8: Sc around (18)
The rest of the pattern will continue below past the attaching section of the two “points”
Finish off the first “Point” and leave working yarn on second “Point”
Attaching Together
With the “Point” that has the working yarn attached, Ch 1.
With your hook, Insert into the first stitch (Left of the last stitch you finished off on) and perform a single crochet.
Continue single crocheting all the way around the this “point”
When reaching the final stitch, single crochet. From here, reach over to the other “point” and single crochet back into it.
Continue single crocheting around
When reaching that first chain, skip over it and into the next available stitch. You should be left with 36 stitches in total (If you hit 35, sc into the chain stitch we skipped before.)
Rnd 9 – 22: Sc around (36)
As you crochet and the shape starts to take place, be sure to seam the bottom hole shut! With yarn darning needle and the tail attached to the center of the hole, pull through two loops at a time and close off.
As you continue to work, be sure to be stuffing your project! You especially want to make sure you have your “points” stuffed firmly
Insert your safety eyes into round 18 with 9 stitches apart (Begin counting your rounds from the center of the magic ring on the tip of one your points of the tooth)
Rnd 23: *Sc 4, Dec* around (30)
Rnd 24: *Sc 3, Dec* around (24)
Be sure to be stuffing your work firmly
Rnd 25: *Sc 2, Dec* around (18)
Rnd 26: *Sc, Dec* around (12)
Rnd 27: *Dec* around (6)
Finish off
All you have to do now is embroider on a face! Don’t forget to add a smile, eyelashes, and blush to your cute tooth.
And there you have it, you’re all done! I hope this cute tooth pattern went off without any problems and it remains as a good reminder to make sure to take care of your teeth!! Once again, I highly encourage you to check out Straight Up Smiles online, especially if you live in the Portland / Vancouver area. They’re the best and will be my go to from now on!
