This post was sponsored by JOANN – My favorite craft store to visit for all my yarn and tools that I use. Also, you can’t resist all their coupons!
Although they’re good all year round, chocolate chip cookies just seem to hit different during the winter / holiday season. There’s lots of good cookie flavors out there but chocolate chip will always reign supreme for me. Let me know what your favorite kind of flavors are in the comments down below!
To get ready for some cozy holiday feels, JOANN is helping me in the yarn kitchen to make some of these chubby chocolate chip cookies! So delicious. And we all know who needs some cookies when coming to town.. Santa Clause! I am sure they will be pleased to have some waiting with a cup of milk.
JOANN has always been there to support creativity and during this time of year, especially in 2020 when we’re all inside, they are finding so many ways to pass the time and to keep those creative muscles moving along. I hope these fun chubby chocolate cookies bring so sort of magic into your home this holiday season and act as a wonderful little treat for yourself or any loved ones!
Crochet is also a wonderful project to keep focus (it’s helped me so much) and this project is beginner friendly, a great amigurumi to do for beginners! It will be a challenging year for many and small little glimmers of joy can really go a long way.
JOANN has everything you need to create these quick and easy amigurumi – and they even offer curb side pick up at stores! Making it safe for you to get your materials to get crafty.

Lets Get Started!
“Panels” – The body (Make 2)
Begin in Beige (Goldmine)
Rnd 1: 6 Single crochet into Magic Ring (6)
Rnd 2: *Inc* around (12)
Rnd 3: *Sc, Inc* around (18)
Rnd 4: *Sc 2, Inc* around (24)
Rnd 5: *Sc 3, Inc* around (30)
Rnd 6: *Sc 4, Inc* around (36)
Rnd 7: *Sc 5, Inc* around (42)
Rnd 8: *Sc 6, Inc* around (48)
Rnd 9: *Sc 7, Inc* around (54)
Rnd 10: Sc around (54)
With one panel, don’t quite finish off yet! You’ll use your working yarn to attach both panels together! Assembly below
Chocolate Chips (Make 5 for each cookie)
Rnd 1: 6 Single crochet into Magic Ring (6)
Slip Stitch into first stitch. Finish off.
Assembly
You’ll now have your two panels ready!
Before we attach, we will be inserting our safety eyes (you can find the ones I buy above or click my affiliate link here!) A good way to find where to put them in is to start from the very center hole. The eyes will be placed 4 stitches away from the center hole on both sides! So both eyes will be 8 stitches apart, NOT including the middle hole. (If you count that as a stitch, it would be 9 stitches apart!) But, this is your creative decision where to place them!
Placing both panels back to back, line them up and enter your hook through the next stitch like you normally would – insert your hook through the other panel as well. (Seen below) Single crochet through both!
Yarn over and pull through – you’ll be left with two loops to do a single crochet!
Continue Single Crocheting all the way around in each corresponding stitch.
Before you get to the end, be sure to start stuffing. You can stuff firmly or loosely depending on what you want – I like mine a little chubby so I stuffed firmly!
To place our chocolate chips, having our face on will make it easier to place them. Using your yarn and darning needle, embroider your smile, lashes, and blush!
Chocolate Chips
Now, we can sew on our chocolate chips onto our cookie! Using pins can be super helpful for this part – you get to choose placement of your chocolate chips however you think will look best. You’ll be going over and under to sew them on!
Bite Mark
If you want to add a “bite” into your cookie, pull your yarn / tail through from the bottom (at an angle), all the way through the top!
Going directly back into the piece (1 or 2 stitches away from your last), pull through the body once again to where you began.
Pull tightly so it pulls inward!
Tie in the ends at the other end and weave your tails in – and now you should be left with your bite mark!
Fresh out of the oven, you now have your baked chubby chocolate chip cookies! What will you be doing with your cookies? And a huge thank you to JOANN from sponsoring this post and brining more creativity this holiday season / year for all of us!

Its so cute. But I literally have no idea how to crochet, so I’ll master the basics first.
