I think most of us can consider the cold shoulder look a cute one, and it’s nice to have a little bit of breeze during the fall time hitting your skin!
With this Yarn Punk addition, you can create your own cold shoulder with some chain or you can use this tutorial to create this type of look anywhere on a piece of clothing as its very simple to do! I’ve even been recommended to do something like this on the back of a sweater!
To get started, you will need:
A piece of clothing to Yarn Punk
Scissors
Darning needle
Yarn (I highly recommend using anything Lion Brand related, but for this, I used ZZ Twist)
4mm crochet hook
For our example, we will be using the sweater found in the pictures; however, please feel free to add this addition to any part of a piece! This is just to show you the technique.
First, find where you are going to want to add this. I chose the top shoulder down to about my upper forearm. (It’s helpful to mark with with a pen or sharpie!) Once you find the area you want to cut into, cut an any shape you desire (This example was a slight diamond shape)
Be sure to cut enough space instead of just cutting it downward!
Time to put in your blanket stitch! (If this is the first Yarn Punk tutorial you’ve seen, be sure to head HERE to find out how to add the blanket stitch, which becomes the loops to crochet or knit onto!)
Once your loops are around the hole, insert your hook and pull your yarn through. Ch 1.
From your ch 1, chain the amount you will need to go across diagonally. Ch the desired length. (Seen below)
From here, choose any loop across (this is where you can get creative!) and sc into the desire loop. (Seen below)
From here, continue the same process across in any shape you would like. I ended up going for a “shoelace” look but this is all up to you!
Be sure to use the hashtag #yarnpunk to show off you your wok on your socials!
