The Vincent Cloak
Can’t beat the cold like a comfy blanket! With this Cloak, it acts just like that; You get to stay toasty inside of it during the cold winter months! This cloak is made with Lion Brand’s Thick & Quick yarn and works up reasonably fast. Seamed up the middle, you can still use your arms! Down below, you will find the pattern worked in the color changes. You can spice this up with any color combo in anyway you desire! Made in sizes Medium and Large.

Materials:
Lion Brand Thick & Quick (Size 6 yarn) – 800 yards
10mm Hook
Scissors
Darning Needle
Gauge: 8 stitches x 5 rows – 4” inches in Dc
Sizes: M, L
Dimensions:
Large:
Width – 35” inches
Length – 27” inches (This does not include the cowl portion)
Circumference – 70” inches
Medium:
Width – 33.5” inches
Length – 24” inches (This does not include the cowl portion)
Circumference – 48” inches
Abbreviations:
Ch – Chain
Sl St- Slip Stitch
Dc – Double Crochet
Inc – Increase (Two of the same stitches in one stitch)
Notes:
- The male wearing the cloak stands at 6’1 and is wearing the large cloak. The female model stands at 5’1 and is wearing the medium sized cloak. These are meant to be worn as big, baggy cloaks; not form fitting!
- Both sizes are worked the same up until round 12, and then the option to create a medium or large will follow!

Pattern Instructions
Ch 20
Row 1: In third chain from hook, Dc. Dc across. (18)
Row 2-21: Ch 2, turn. Dc across. (18)
Row 22: Now, fold your work and slip st into both sides to attach.
You will now end up with a full-sized cowl
Now that you have this done, along the brim, you will have 42 spaces to Dc into. Along the top of the cowl, you will be doing a *sc 6, Inc* sequence around, sl st to join. You will be ending with 48 stitches. (This will be considered Rnd 1)
You will want to attach your new yarn to the front side of the cowl where you didn’t seam up, to avoid having the seamed-up portion facing forward on the finished piece! Seen down below:
Rnd 2: Ch 2. Dc into first stitch, Dc into next 6 stitches, Inc. *Dc 7, Inc, repeat from * (54)
Rnd 3: Ch 2. Dc into first stitch, Dc into next 7 stitches, Inc. *Dc 8, Inc, repeat from * (60)
If you are changing colors, Switch to Color B
Rnd 4: Ch 2, turn. Dc into first stitch, Dc into next 8 stitches, Inc. *Dc 9, Inc, repeat from * (66)
Rnd 5: Ch 2, turn. Dc into first stitch, Dc into next 9 stitches, Inc. *Dc 10, Inc, repeat from * (72)
It will be creating this split between both sides:
Rnd 6: Ch 2, turn. Dc into first stitch, Dc into next 10 stitches, Inc. *Dc 11, Inc, repeat from * (78)
Rnd 7: Ch 2, turn. Dc into first stitch, Dc into next 11 stitches, Inc. *Dc 12, Inc, repeat from * (84)
Switch Colors
Rnd 8: Ch 2, turn. Dc into first stitch, Dc into next 12 stitches, Inc. *Dc 13, Inc, repeat from *(90)
Rnd 9: Ch 2, turn. Dc into first stitch, Dc into next 13 stitches, Inc. *Dc 14, Inc, repeat from *(96)
Rnd 10: Ch 2, turn. Dc into first stitch, Dc into next 14 stitches, Inc. *Dc 15, Inc, repeat from *(102)
Rnd 11: Ch 2, turn. Dc into first stitch, Dc into next 15 stitches, Inc. *Dc 16, Inc, repeat from *(108)
From here, it will be medium sized. At the end of this section of this pattern will you find the Large!
Size Medium
Switch Colors
Rnd 12 – 27: Ch 2, turn. Dc across. (108) For switching colors, they will be worked in rows of 4! So after the 4th row, you will switch colors.
Finish off
Size Large
Rnd 12: Ch 2, turn. Dc into first stitch, Dc into next 16 stitches, Inc. *Dc 17, Inc,repeat from * (114)
Rnd 13: Ch 2, turn. Dc into first stitch, Dc into next 17 stitches, Inc. *Dc 18, Inc,repeat from * (120)
Rnd 14-31: Ch 2, turn. Dc across. (108) For switching colors, they will be worked in rows of 4!
Finish off
Cord
Medium: Ch 125
In second chain from hook, sc. Sc across (124)
Finish off.
Large: Ch 151
In second chain from hook, sc. Sc across (150)
Finish off
Seaming it through the cloak:
To begin, pull the long cord underneath the two sides:
Now, going to the opposite end, you will be skipping one row and inserting it into the following after. (Seen below)
Above shows that one row is skipped each time!
Continue that same process all the way down, alternating between both ends.
It’ll begin to look like this:
And there you go! Your cloak is done and should add some extra warmth to your outfits when it gets cold outside. They’re hard not to notice when you walk out in public, so be excited to explain you made this yourself! I hope you have fun with the pattern and want to recreate more – I had a blast making these!
