Have you ever heard of the term “yarn-bombing”? Well, many of us play it safe and make garments, home decor, and dolls for everyday use, but the talented crochet artist London Kaye takes to the streets with her art! Yarn-bombing is a form of crochet art that takes crochet pieces and are installed on public places/items to give some life to the mundane! She now even has her own theme packs available at JoAnns Stores (check them out here!) and her own crochet hooks which can be found here and in stores at JoAnn Fabrics as well!
You can find the emoji pack in stores! After seeing London’s work, its totally inspired me to try something out like this; maybe I’ll take to the streets of Portland this summer and give it a whirl!
I think this type of yarn play would be such a wonderful outing to get people together and have a blast; and talk about making your work public.
London Kaye sums up her art by saying,
“My message is that joy, beauty, and happiness
can be found anywhere we’re willing to look.”
And isn’t that the truth?! Just look what she did with the front window of Lion Brand Yarn In NYC!

Beauty can be found everywhere. Your talent is inspiration! Thanks for sharing it with the world.
This is SO fun!!! I’d love to try this!! I live in such a small little spot that I would love any reason to draw out more crocheters to meet up with, and you’re right…this is a perfect way!! Thanks for the chance!! Fingers & toes crossed!! ?
I love her and would be stoked to win! Yarn bombing is amazing!
I love her work!
I do like seeing things yarn bombed, but I’ve never done it myself though
I yarn bombed way back when I was a tween…that was in the very early ’70’s!!! I don’t even think it was called yarn bombing then…I just think they called it annoying!!! Very few people crocheted or knitted in public. I’m so glad those days are long past and fiber arts are actually thought of as arts! What a wonderful time we live in for our crafts!!
Loved her Yarn bombing class! I highly recommend it if she offers it again at VKL.
Thank you, Donna! ❤http://viagraqlor.com/
That’s such a cool way to spread some joy!
I love the idea of yarn-bombing a fence with hearts.
