Holiday Narwhals
Narwhals; some don’t even know that they exist and some consider them the unicorn of the sea. I think there something that gives that away! Their horn! But did you actually know that it’s not a horn, but rather, a giant tooth! An ivory tusk to be exact. Down below, you will find the free pattern to these mini narhwals! They stand 2 inches tall and are roughly 3.5 inches wide. These little ones are small enough that they can be used as Christmas Ornaments for the tree!
Notes: This pattern was worked in a continuous round, not joined.
Materials
- Any worsted weight will do (The ones above were made with Lion Brand Yarn Vannas Choice! Which you can find here)
- Main Color: Sky Blue
- Secondat: White
- 4mm Crochet Hook
- Yarn Needle
- Scissors
- 6mm safety eyes
- Fiberfill
- Stitch Markers (Optional, but helpful!)
Head/Body (Begin in desired color of choice, this will be the color for the top portion of your Narwhal)
Rnd 1: Sc 6 into Magic Ring (6)
Rnd 2: *Inc* around (12)
Rnd 3: *Sc, Inc* around (18)
Rnd 4: *Sc 2, Inc* around (24)
Rnd 5: *Sc 3, Inc* around (30)
Rnd 6-10: Sc around (30)
Rnd 11: Switch to white, Sc around (30)
Rnd 12: *Sc 3, Dec* around (24)
***Attach safety eyes in row 9, with 8 stitches apart. Begin stuffing firmly*
Rnd 13: *Sc 2, Dec* around (18)
Rnd 14: *Sc, Dec* around (12)
Finish off and leave tail to sew hole closed
Horn/tusk (thicker)
(Begin in first desired color)
Rnd 1: Sc 3 into Magic Ring (3)
Rnd 2: *Inc* around (6)
Rnd 3: Switch to next color, *Sc, inc* around (9)
Rnd 4: Switch back to previous color, Sc around (9)
Rnd 5: Switch to next color, Sc around (9)
Finish off and leave tail for sewing
Horn/tusk (thinner)
(Begin in first desired color)
Rnd 1: Sc 3 into Magic Ring (3)
Rnd 2: *Inc* around (6)
Rnd 3: Switch to next color, sc around (6)
Rnd 4: Switch back to previous color, Sc around (6)
Rnd 5: Switch to next color, Sc around (6)
Finish off and leave tail for sewing
Fins and tail (All worked the same way, same color as top of the body)
(Make 4)
Rnd 1: Sc 6 into Magic Ring (6)
Rnd 2-3: Sc around (6)
