The holiday season calls for being wrapped up inside with yarn, good books, and a cozy scarf! Ever since I got into crocheting, I’ve needed a scarf around my neck at all times – and that includes while I’m inside as well. The Fire Mantel Scarf adds a bit of a mature look on this accessory with the color work and the crab stitch being used as the border!

Notes:
- The border is created using the crab stitch – a method of using the single crochet but going backwards. Photo tutorial down below!
- This pattern is a one size fits all and wraps around twice to give it the infinity look!
Let’s get started!
Beginning with your Black yarn, ch 17.
Row 1: In 3rd chain from hook, Dc. Dc across (15)
Row 2 – 57: Ch 2, turn. Dc across (15)
You will now fold your work in half and seam the two ends together with the slip stitch!
Attach your white yarn, you will not be working across the long portion of the scarf:
Ch 2, and Dc into the first stitch. Around the entirety of the scarf, insert a Dc into each stitch around. Do this same thing on the other side as well.
Once you have both sides Dc’ed in white, it’s time to do the Crab stitch as the border! One side will be in the Red and the other side will be in the Green.
Pull your green yarn through and ch 1. (below)
Instead of going forward with your Sc, you will do your Sc backwards. Skip 1 stitch and insert your sc into the next.
Now in each consecutive stitch after, you will keep performing the Sc in each stitch in a backwards motion and it will begin to look like this!
If you are having trouble following this photo tutorial (Going backwards can sound like a foreign concept!) head HERE to this Youtube Tutorial
Do this on the the other side with the Red and you will be complete!
I hope you enjoyed this easy pattern and add it to the coziness of your inside decor! It keeps you so warm (like all of Lion Brand Yarn does!) and will add elegance to any outfit!
