I have been into Pokemon for a VERY long time – since I was 4. I am now 24, so I’ve been breathing Pokemon in for 20 years. I also have a Pokemon tattoo on my leg, so you could say I’m a die hard fan.
With the release of Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee, I’ve been out playing lots of Pokemon Go with my friends! I don’t feel like playing Pokemon is enough to show my love for it; so that’s where this piece came in. I wanted to show off with any outfit how much Pokemon means to me when I’m out playing, so I grabbed my Lion Brand Yarn and made this project!
Down below, you will find the tutorial for these jean modifications! Very Yarn Punk if I do say so myself. With the crocheted part, you are free to do any sort of design or alteration! This is mainly to give you an idea for what you can do with pants and a square block on your jeans/pants.
Dimensions of Patch:
7″ inches wide
7.5″ inches long
Abbreviations:
Ch – Chain
Sl St- Slip Stitch
Sc- Single Crochet
Dc – Double Crochet
Inc – Increase (Two of the same stitches in one stitch)
Materials:
A pair of pants
Scissors
Darning needle
Measuring Tape
Yarn (I would recommend anything size 4 yarn, Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice would be my recommendation!)
Notes: The instructions for the tutorial will be accompanied by the picture ABOVE it.
Lets Begin!
Grab the pair of pants you would like to Yarn Punk! For my pair, I had done a little crochet into it to close a hole, so I chose to use this area.
With your scissors, cut across the portion you would like gone! However, don’t cut past the seams, leave a little room so you have somewhere to sew on the patch.
Cut out the entirety of your blocked out space!
Now, with a measuring tape, measure how tall and wide your blocked area is going to be. This will help you create the blocked crochet patch!
For my Pokeball Patch, the pattern that was created for it is:
Begin in Red
Ch 26
Row 1: Dc into third chain from hook. Dc across. (24)
Row 2 – 7: Ch 2, Turn. Dc across (24)
Switch to Black
Row 8 – 9: Ch 2, Turn. Dc across (24)
Switch to White
Row 10 – 15: Ch 2, Turn. Dc across (24)
Finish Off
Pokeball Button
Black button:
Rnd 1: 6 sc into Magic Ring (6)
Rnd 2: *Inc* around (12)
Rnd 3: *Sc, Inc* around (18)
White Button:
Rnd 1: 6 sc into Magic Ring (6)
Rnd 2: *Inc* around (12)
Finish off
Sew the button onto your pants and you are done!
I would love to see what you do to YOUR pants! Be sure to tag @knot.bad and @yarnpunk on your socials and use the hashtag #yarnpunk! There’s even a chance to be featured when using the hanshtag!
